Actress Andi Eigenmann has revealed the reason for choosing a simple life in Siargao over show business.
Andi said that she just wanted to free herself from the limelight for a while but then she found herself there.
In an interview with Toni Gonzaga for “I Feel U,” Andi noted that she feels "different" now because she got to share to the world, for the first time, who she really is.
But she maintained that her basis to stay away from the spotlight is not about showbiz itself but just the "timing."
“Parang I started at a time I was so young and I didn’t really know who I was yet and I felt so lost. So, in turn, hindi na ako naging masaya. So putting myself away from it gave me the chance to find myself somehow, or my happiness,” the daughter of seasoned stars Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose said.
“Hindi ko naman tinakbuhan yung public per se. It’s just that I wanted a break. Parang ngayon, ang sarap ng pakiramdam na pagkatapos ko pagdaanan yun, ngayon well-adjusted na ako sa buhay na pinili ko at sa mas ginugusto kong buhay, na tinatanggap siya ng mga tao."
There, Andi was able to build her own family along with professional surfer Philmar Alipayo and one-year-old daughter Lilo. Andi is now pregnant with their second child.

Andi shared that the island life has been giving her a "sense of freedom and peace" that's why she wouldn't trade those things for anything.
"Parang I get to be who I want to be or who I really am without anybody judging me,” her words were. "And being the public eye for so many years and everyone seeing me make every single mistake in my life as I was growing up, it's really refreshing what the island has given me."
"So parang that feeling of giving myself the dream life that I’ve always wanted allows me to be my best self, be happy."
Andi credited her partner for "helping" and "encouraging" her to bring out the best in her.
Fans could attest how much the two love each other.
The couple even shared online how Philmar would give Andy pechay instead of flowers during their courtship days.
While the actress also penned sweet birthday message for her partner.

Note that the two are currently in a “long-distance” relationship due to lockdown guidelines. Andi is in Manila with Lilo and her eight-year-old child Ellie, who is staying with her father, Jake Ejercito when the lockdown was implemented last March; while Philmar is in his hometown of Siargao.
During the community quarantine, Andi proved mothers don’t need to spend much just to give their children a set of toys as she used recycled materials for her kids' DIY toys.
