San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora vowed to provide San Juaneños with quality homes and improve the city during the Team Makabagong San Juan Legacy Proclamation Rally at the Filoil EcoOil Centre on Friday, March 28.

The event started with a mass at the Santuario del Sto. Cristo, followed by a parade leading to the rally venue.

Zamora, along with Vice Mayor Angelo “AAA” Agcaoili, Rep. Bel Zamora, and the councilor candidates from Districts 1 and 2, aims to continue the projects and programs from his first two terms.

The District 1 candidates were Councilor Ryan Llanos Dee, Dennis Pardinez, Renren Ritualo, Councilor Boyet Tolentino, Councilor Ervic Vijandre, and Councilor James Yap. District 2 had Councilor Don Allado, Councilor Totoy Bernardo, Councilor Bea de Guzman, Councilor Macky Mathay, Councilor Kit Peralta, and Councilor Franco Tañada-Yam.

The mayor's main priority in his third-term agenda is the construction of "desente at marangal na pabahay" (decent and dignified housing) through the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino program in Barangays Batis, Sta. Lucia, and West Crame, ensuring San Juaneños have access to quality homes within the city.

He is also dedicated to legacy infrastructure projects, such as the Makabagong San Juan Sports Center, the City Hall Annex, and the Makabagong San Juan Crematorium and Columbarium, which will feature high-speed cremation, four chapels, and 1,000 niches with space for expansion.

Other plans include the installation of a citywide CCTV system with a central command center, upgrading the radio communication system, and providing free public Wi-Fi in key areas. Main roads will be enhanced with LED lighting and cat’s eyes, with lighting improvements also planned for Pinaglabanan Shrine and City Hall.

Zamora also plans to establish the Makabagong San Juaneño Animal Care Center, which will have a clinic, surgery and rehab rooms, and an animal crematorium.

He also announced plans for a mid-rise housing project in Taytay, Rizal, to address additional housing needs. New pumping stations at Baguio Oil and Maytunas Creek, along with a sewerage treatment plant in Batis, will be constructed to improve flood control and sanitation.

As part of the city's vehicle modernization program, each barangay will receive two new vehicles, while City Hall and the police will get additional units, including a ladder fire truck.

For the health sector, the mayor plans to upgrade San Juan Medical Center to a Level 3 hospital, expanding services and strengthening the city's healthcare system.

Accomplishments in the past two terms

Over the past two terms under Zamora's administration, San Juan has implemented various programs and projects, including zero balance billing at San Juan Medical Center (SJMC), its upgrade to a Level 2 hospital, and two consecutive Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awards.

In terms of education, public school students and City Hall employees received customized rubber shoes, while all public school students were provided with free school and PE uniforms, tablets, and access to fiber optic internet and Smart TVs in classrooms. Additionally, the “Libreng Gamot” program continues to provide free medicines through the City Hall Dispensary.

Efforts were also made to achieve 100 percent drug-cleared barangays, certified by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), contributing to the city's distinction of having the lowest crime volume in Metro Manila.

Through infrastructure and public service initiatives, the city brought local services closer to communities, including the construction of the Greenhills–West Crame Connector Road and the launch of Barangay Caravans.
