Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto kicked off their campaign with a thanksgiving Mass at the Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Friday, March 28.

The tandem, accompanied by their families, attended the 6 a.m. Mass to offer gratitude for their blessings.

Following the Mass, the Manila executives embarked on a house-to-house campaign in Sampaloc, a district known for its strong support for the duo.

They were joined by incumbent Congressman Edward Maceda and his wife, Dr. Giselle Maceda, who is running to succeed her husband, as his term is set to end in June.

Along with them were their candidates for Manila City Council, including Science Reyes and Barangay Chairman Bong Marzan, the brother of former Manila City Administrator Jay Marzan.

The residents of Sampaloc warmly received Lacuna and Servo, with enthusiastic cheers and lively celebrations, reaffirming their support for the candidates.

The duo, running under the Asenso Manileño party, which has been the dominant political force in the city for years, expressed confidence in securing another victory.

In the 2022 elections, Asenso Manileño made a clean sweep, winning all elected positions from mayor and vice mayor to Congress and city councilors.

The mayor, a longtime resident of Sampaloc, is well-known in the district.

She began her political career as a Manila City Councilor for the Fourth District from 2004 to 2013, before serving as the city’s Social Welfare Officer.

In 2016, she made history by becoming Manila's first female Vice Mayor, serving two terms until 2022. She then ran for mayor and achieved a resounding victory, securing the widest margin in Manila’s electoral history.

The city government said her win was so decisive that even if all her opponents’ votes were combined, she still held a lead of over 200,000 votes.

Lacuna-Servo tandem is running together under the "Tapat at Totoo" (Honest and Genuine) slogan campaign, with strong backing from five of Manila's six congressmen, a majority of city council members, and key figures within the Asenso Manileno party.

With the support of the people and a proven track record of service, they are determined to continue their leadership and bring further progress to Manila.
