op K-pop girl group BLACKPINK set another record with their music video of “Kill This Love” reaching 1 billion views today, Sept. 2.
“Kill This Love" reached the milestone nearly 17 months after the music video was uploaded on YouTube on April 4, 2019.
This is the group's second music video to breach the mark after the music video of "DDU-DU DDU-DU" accumulated 1 billion views on Nov. 11, 2019, or nearly 17 months after it was released on YouTube on June 15, 2018.
With “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” BLACKPINK became the first K-pop group to achieve 1 billion views for a single music video and now with “Kill This Love,” they are the only K-pop group with two music videos reaching a billion views each.
When “Kill This Love” was released in April 2019, it became the No. 1 most viewed music video in the first 24 hours, garnering 56.7 million views and overtaking Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” music video, which earned 55.4 million views.
BLACKPINK recently released “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez), which recorded 79.08 million views in the first 24 hours to become the third biggest 24-hour music debut on YouTube.
Their other music video “How You Like That” is second overall with 86.3 million views in the first 24 hours of release.
