The Gallery By Chele team shows us how to beat the virus in the kitchen

‘Let’s bring positivism back. Let’s make everyone understand the importance of our industry to many people and do what we do best, hospitality’—Chele Gonzalez
To overcome the deadly pandemic, there are two key things to bear in mind.
First is, of course, cooperation. We must do our part in making sure Covid-19 does not spread any further while our scientists and doctors deal with the coronavirus. This means to always follow quarantine rules and practice social distancing. This also entails that we should help one another, especially the less capable in handling the situation.
The second is positivism, to hold on to hope when everything else feels bleak. Our lives may have been upended in the health crisis, but it is all the more reason to get back up on our feet. While crippling anxiety is never anyone’s fault, we must remember that it preys on those who hold on to nothing.
One can argue that looking at the brighter side of life is easier said than done. It may be hard, but it's doable.
Take for instance this scene in the kitchen.
Chef Chele Gonzalez of restaurant Gallery by Chele, posted on social media footage of him, his wife, and kitchen staff having a good time, moving and grooving to the beat.
The Spanish chef explains that he was inspired by the post of the famous Makati bakery, Panaderya Toyo, which showed the staff dancing in the workplace on Aug. 15.
“I commented and Bea Ledesma challenged me to do another video. So here we go again, dancing and having fun with team gallery and my wife Teri Echiverri Gonzalez,” Chef Chele wrote on his video post. “This was in the morning, we were all laughing, dancing as a family and we started the day with a positive energy.”
Scientifically speaking, dancing relieves stress. It is proven that when we feel good physically, our mind feels better as well. Like any other physical activity, dancing releases the neurotransmitter called endorphins aka the happy hormones, which serve to reduce stress and cause our bodies to feel calm, happy, and optimistic.
Chef Chele concludes his post by challenging anyone in the food industry, from chefs to restaurateurs to all members of RestoPH to try the fun exercise.
“Let’s bring positivism back. Let’s make everyone understand the importance of our industry to many people and do what we do best, hospitality,” he said.
“Let’s be safe. Let’s implement all safety measurements. Let’s learn and rise above this virus.”
