NBI arrests 7 after rescuing abduction victims

Seven Chinese nationals were arrested, while, three of their compatriots whom they abducted over alleged stolen money were rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Paranaque City.

NBI Officer-In-Charge Eric Distor identified the arrested Chinese as Ni Lingkang, Hu Ruiguang, Xiao Hui, Xiao Zi, Xiao Ji, Ale Wong and Alang Chen Hai Long.

Distor said the seven Chinese nationals were arrested by agents of the NBI’s Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (NBI-TFAID) during an rescue operation last Monday, Aug. 3, at a house located at No. 2 Judea St. in Multinational Village in Paranaque City.

During the operation, NBI agents rescued three Chinese nationals who are also residents of Multinational Village.

Distor said the NBI agents acted based upon an information they received regarding the abduction of the three Chinese.

“According to them, in the afternoon of August 2, 2020, while inside their house located in Bethlehem St., Multinational Village, Paranaque City, several Chinese barged in, and without any explanation, forced them to board a vehicle and brought them to a house located at No.2 Judea St., Multinational Village,” the NBI said in a statement.

During their captivity, the three victims recounted that they were blindfolded and beaten up while being demanded to return the money they allegedly stole from the boss of the suspects.

Following the rescue operation, the seven suspects were presented for inquest before the Paranaque City Prosecutor’s Office for kidnapping and serious illegal detention in violation of the Revised Penal Code.

The seven suspects are currently held at the NBI Detention Center in Manila.
