2 officials appointed at DOJ's Board of Pardons and Parole

Malacanang has appointed two new officials at the Department of Justice’s Board of Pardons and Parole (DOJ-BPP), Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra announced on Monday (July 27).

Guevarra said the Palace appointed Sergio Rubico Calizo Jr. as BPP chairperson and Natividad Dizon as vice chairperson.
 
Prior the appointment, DOJ Undersecretary Deo Marco sat as the acting chairman of the BPP.
 
Despite the appointments, Guevarra said “Usec. Marco continues to sit in the BPP in an ex officio capacity.”
 
Guevarra also announced that Malacanang has re-appointed Atty. Toribio Elises Ilao Jr. as Ad Interim member of the Judicial Bar and Council (JBC) to represent the private sector.
 
Under the Constitution, the JBC selects and recommends to the President appointments in the judiciary.
 
The Ex Officio members of the JBC consist of the Supreme Court chief justice who sits as the chairman, a member of Congress, and the justice secretary.
 
The other four members are appointed by the President and have a term of four years.
 
Guevarra also announced that Malacanang has appointed 17 prosecutors at the DOJ.
 
The newly appointed prosecutors who will be posted in various prosecution offices nationwide are:
 
1) Rufo-Subibi, Ivy G. - Prosecutor II, Davao City
 
2) Araojo, Dennis Francisco – Prosecutor V, Zamboanga City
 
3) Adlao, Joyce Preston -  Prosecutor II, Cebu
 
4) Carandang, John Quincy Dantes - Prosecutor III, Caloocan City
 
5) Calupig, Rommel Garan - Prosecutor IV, Ilocos Norte
 
6) Lumagui-Sayoto, Marinela D. - Prosecutor I, Imus City
 
7) Pataras, Benedict Kato - Prosecutor III, Benguet
 
8) Malamug, Jerry Anton Paolo Unabia - Prosecutor II, Makati City
 
9) Dela Cruz, Gerald Buenaventura - Prosecutor II, Nueva Ecija
 
10) Abella, Charmian Maria Ferrer - Prosecutor II, Mandaue City
 
11) Manguera, Erwin Canlas - Prosecutor I, Tarlac City
 
12) Maagad, Chonita Lara - Prosecutor I, Dapitan City
