Guevarra to meet DOJ attached agencies' officials

By Jeffrey Damicog Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra will meet within the week officials of attached agencies of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

(TOTO LOZANO/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes explained this is part of activities being conducted by Guevarra to get accustomed in his new position. These agencies are the Bureau of Immigration (BI), National Bureau of Immigration (BI), Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), Land Registration Authority, and the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO). Balmes said the secretary has yet to decide whether to replace or retain any of the officials of the DOJ’s attached agencies. “Sa ngayon, wala pa (None at the moment). Too early,” Balmes said. On the other hand, Balmes disclosed that Guevarra has expressed his intention to bring in his own people to the DOJ. “He might be bringing in some people kasi (people) of his trust and confidence,” the Undersecretary said. After serving as senior deputy executive secretary in Malacanang, Guevarra took over last Tuesday as justice secretary following the resignation of his predecessor, former Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.
