Balmes said agents of the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) arrested Russon on Thursday in Sitio Campaog, Barangay Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu.
The undersecretary explained the Briton got arrested “for posing risk to public safety and security being a fugitive from justice.”
Citing official communication from the British National Crime Agency (NCA), Russon is a convicted Registered Sex Offender wanted by the United Kingdom Police for violation of the UK Sexual Offences Act of 1997.
The Briton was already sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for two counts of buggery and three counts of indecent assault on males under 16.
Because of his conviction, he was subsequently placed in the Sex Offender Registry indefinitely.
Balmes said Russon will be detained at the BI Warden Facility (BIWF) in Manila.
