Two dead in Baguio landslide

By Zaldy Comanda BAGUIO CITY – Two persons died when the barracks they were in was carried in a landslide that happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Sandico St., Salud Mitra Barangay, here. Patrick Lachica, 23, project engineer, a resident of Beckel, La Trinidad, Benguet and Hanah Jean Aragon, 22, HR representative of the construction company and resident of Happy Homes, Baguio City. Initial investigation revealed that the two were at the construction barracks around 3 p.m. when the soil where it was built on due to the gush of water from the continues rain. The two were buried. Personnel of BCPO Station 3, Rescue 911, and other volunteers immediately responded and aides one another in retrieving the bodies. Authorities said the two were already lifeless when they were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. The public were advised to take the necessary precaution especially with the loosening of the soil due to the continues rain. PAGASA had earlier warned that the city will experience continues rain until weekend due to he effect of the monsoon rain.
