LPA off Virac, Catanduanes develops into tropical depression 'Egay'

By Patrick Garcia The low pressure area (LPA) last spotted east of Virac, Catanduanes has already developed into a tropical depression (TD) and was named TD ‘Egay’ Saturday evening. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country’s weather bureau, TD Egay was last spotted 780 km east of Virac, and is forecast to become a storm within the next 24 hours. PAGASA also said that there is only a small chance of Egay making landfall. The Southwest Monsoon or Hanging Habagat will bring rains to Luzon and Visayas. In the next 24 hours, rains can be expected in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, as well as in the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.
