Catriona Gray dedicates Miss Universe stint to PH

(Photo courtesy of Gines Enriquez/BPCI/ MANILA BULLETIN) Hours before she left for Bangkok, Gray dedicated her stint in the prestigious beauty contest to the Philippines. "Off to Thailand to represent my beautiful country the Philippines in @missuniverse 🇹🇭 Philippines, mahal kita. I hope to make you proud," says Gray on Instagram. The Filipino-Australian beauty queen also paid to her Filipino glam team. "Mabuhay Philippines and Sawadeeka Thailand!!! Thanks to my amazing team/family for my official Day 1 of Miss Universe glam!" Ninety-five girls are competing in this year's edition of the Miss Universe beauty contest. This will be the third time that Thailand will host the prestigious pageant. It hosted the pageant in 1992 and 2005. Thailand has already produced two winners – Apasra Hongsakula (1965) and Porntip Nakhirunkanok (1988). Gray, who stands 5'9 1/2, is a woman of many interests. She grew up in Australia where she developed a deep appreciation for nature, an active lifestyle and an easy laid back attitude of “no worries.” The Bicolana beauty queen is also into sketching, painting, travel, writing, photography, music, and cooking. She's a Black belt in Choi Kwang Do, loves outdoor recreation and outdoor sports. She has a boyfriend. In her late teens, Gray moved to Asia and has become one of the most sought-after commercial models, appearing in regional and global campaigns along with gracing various magazine covers. She is also a budding songwriter and singer, an owner of her own business and an artist. "I’ve worked mostly as a creative and talent in my career. My most memorable jobs are when I’ve been able to travel-working with new people in new surroundings always create great experience," Gray said. Gray has a blog called Cat' Elle (derived from her first names Catriona and Elisa). It tackles outfits, beauty and lifestyle. She also discusses her trips around the world and in some parts of the country.
