New LPA enters PH, to enhance southwest monsoon

By Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz The low pressure area (LPA) east of the country has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday and will likely enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat within the next few days. (PAGASA / MANILA BULLETIN) (PAGASA / MANILA BULLETIN) The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 1,240 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes around Wednesday morning. PAGASA weather specialist Chris Perez said the LPA will likely enhance the monsoon circulation within the next two to three days. It has a slim chance of becoming a cyclone as of Wednesday. However, if it develops into a tropical depression, it will be given a name of ‘Neneng.’ Perez said the habagat will continue to affect Southern Luzon and Visayas. From Wednesday until Thursday, the habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Visayas. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience generally warm morning with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. The public, especially those living near river channels, and in low-lying and mountainous areas, were advised to continue to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.
