Finally, a proper documentary on the late, great Anthony Bourdain.
The trailer for “Roadrunner,” a documentary about the chef, was released by Focus Films yesterday.
The film follows the career of Bourdain as chef, author and TV host.
Bourdain “captivated audiences with his passion for food, his curiosity and empathy toward other cultures, and his biting, sardonic commentary,” Rolling Stone wrote.
Bourdain died in June of 2018, the result of an apparent suicide.
The documentary features “behind-the-scenes footage, home videos, and interviews with some of Bourdain’s closest friends, colleagues, and production crew members.”

These include restauranteurs David Chang and Eric Ripert, Bourdain’s longtime producer Tom Vitale, and Alison Mosshart of the Kills.
“Roadrunner” is directed by filmmaker Morgan Neville. Neville won an Academy award for his work on “20 Feet From Stardom” (2013), and an Alliance for Women Film Journalists award for “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” (2018).
Neville said in a statement that his aim for this film was to frame Bourdain “in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him.”
“Roadrunner” will premiere at the Tribeca film Festival on June 11th and will be released on theaters on July 16th.
