In lieu of anniversary social night, BuCor decides to grant bonus to officials, employees
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has approved the grant of at least P3,000 anniversary bonus to its qualified officials and personnel as a way to help those who may have been affected by typhoons and floods.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. said the bonus “is a big help to personnel affected by calamities and a chance to help follow citizens.”
Catapang said the grant of the anniversary bonus was recommended by BuCor Deputy Director for General Administration Al Perreras.
In his recommendation, Perreras said: “In line with this significant occasion that honors not only the institution's enduring service but also the unwavering dedication and camaraderie of its personnel, whose collective efforts continuously contribute to the Bureau's success and integrity, the Chief of the Finance Service respectfully requests the granting of an anniversary bonus not exceeding P3,000 to all officials and employees of the BuCor who are eligible to receive it.”
Perreras also cited Administrative Order No. 263 issued in 1996 that authorizes the grant of an anniversary bonus to officials and employees of national government agencies (NGAs), Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), and Government Financial Institutions (GFIs).
Since the BuCor is such an institution, Perreras said the bureau is allowed to extend the anniversary bonus in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
With the grant of the bonus, BuCor has cancelled the social night for its anniversary this month set on Wednesday, Nov. 12, Catapang said.
He also said the cancellation of the event is also in response to the call of President Marcos to avoid lavish Christmas celebrations in solidarity with the thousands of Filipinos devastated by calamities.
