BFAR-8 distributes P2 M worth of fuel assistance in Southern Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 8 and the Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC) distributed P2.1 million worth of fuel subsidy to qualified registered fisherfolk in Southern Leyte during their recent Provincial Fuel Discount Caravan.

A total of 716 beneficiaries from 18 coastal municipalities received their fuel discount cards each worth P3,000 of fuel subsidy.

The caravan was conducted per cluster in a bid to efficiently and timely distribute the fuel discount cards and help the beneficiaries cope with the high cost of fuels.

The fuel discount cards are to be exclusively used for withdrawal of fuel in partner gasoline stations or gas stations that are willing to accept the cards.

The cluster distribution areas were in Hinunangan, Liloan, Bontoc, Limasawa Island, and Padre Burgos towns.

A separate distribution is set to be conducted in October 2022 in Maasin City wherein 84 fisherfolk beneficiaries will receive the same fuel subsidy.

Meanwhile, for the province of Biliran, the Fuel Discount Caravan team will be visiting Culaba, Kawayan, Caibiran, Cabucgayan, Naval, and Almeria for its cluster distribution on August 17 to August 19, 2022.

The BFAR 8 held the first run of the Fuel Discount Caravan in July within the province of Leyte to help registered fisherfolks who have been affected by the ongoing economic challenge and the continuous spike in fuel prices.
