PNP prepares charges vs returning Pinay who skipped quarantine, hotel staff and BOQ personnel
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now preparing criminal charges against a returning overseas Filipino who was believed to have infected at least 15 people with the coronavirus (COVID-19) when she skipped the quarantine protocols at the Makati City hotel.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is now in charge in the conduct of investigation for the filing of cases not only against Gwyneth Anne Chua but also to the hotel owners and management, and the personnel of the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) who may have something do with the incident.
"The instruction I gave is to investigate the case and file appropriate criminal charges to anyone who will be found violating," said Carlos.
Based on the initial information, Chua went out of a hotel in Makati City where she was supposed to be quarantined until she is cleared to go out after a swab test result is released.
But while in quarantine, Chua reportedly got out and even went to a bar for a dinner and party.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said Chua was reportedly even quoted bragging her connections, the reason why she was able to get out of the supposed strict quarantine rules for returning Filipinos from abroad.
