Sean de Guzman wins first ever int'l acting award

Many dismissed Sean de Guzman when he was just starting out.

Most of them insisted he has no acting talent to speak of.

Sean has since proven detractors wrong, winning his first-ever acting award at the Chithiram International Film Festival in India for his performance in Joel Lamangan's "Fall Guy."

It is actually prophetic.

Joel himself predicted the same some months back.

"Siya ang tatanghaling best actor sa mga susunod na panahon,” he told us.

It was Joel who helped launch Sean's acting career, picking him as lead for his "Anak Ng Macho Dancer" in 2021.

He said, “Bakit ko siya pinili? Dahil nakitaan ko siya ng husay sa pag-arte. Nakitaan ko siya ng intrinsic quality ng isang mahusay na aktor na puwede pang ma-develop bilang pangunahing aktor ng ating industriya. Iyan ang nakita ko kay Sean.”

Note "Fall Guy" also earned Special Mention for Best International Feature Film at the same festival.

Sean is quite happy with the win.

Asked about it, he said humbly, "Wala akong expectations whatsoever talaga pero siyempre masaya. Nagdilang anghel si direk Joel.”
