The Aksyon Demokratiko on Monday, Dec. 6, said it supports the decision of Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso to adopt President Duterte's in the party's senatorial candidate.
In a statement, Aksyon Demokratiko chair Ernest Ramel clarified that they were not an opposition party, and that the party was standing behind the earlier announcement of Domagoso.
"We standby with the pronouncement of our Party President and standard bearer. Aksyon has taken a centrist and objective stand on many issues and is not an opposition party per se," Aksyon Demokratiko chairman "We believe that there are current administration policies and programs worth continuing while there are some that can be improved, discontinued, or rectified," he said.
On Monday morning, Domagoso said he planned to vote for Duterte, who is running for a Senate post in the May 2022 national elections.
He said Duterte was a qualified candidate for the position, and that he was also willing to adopt him as the fourth senatorial candidate of his Aksyon Demokratiko Party.
Ramel, meanwhile, said the party was willing to work with anyone that supports the Bilis Kilos programs and platforms of governance of Domagoso.
