QC cops nab 18-year-old tricycle driver
Police have arrested an 18-year-old tricycle driver who went into hiding after he was charged for leaving his passenger who fell from his tricycle and died after being run over by a truck in Quezon City two years ago.
Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, San Juan City Police chief, identified the suspect as Marlon Baidal of Blumentritt Street, Barangay San Perfecto, San Juan City.
Reyes said Baidal was nabbed by policemen while driving his tricycle along F. Blumetritt Street in Barangay Pedro Cruz, San Juan City at around 6:55 p.m. Friday.
Arresting officers were armed with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Boomari Sy Rodolfo of Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 37 for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Court records showed that Baidal was charged after his passenger, a 13-year-old girl, died after being run over by an 8-wheeler truck after falling from his tricycle while cruising Aurora Boulevard in front of Broadway Centrum in Quezon City on January 2017.
Police said Baidal left without helping his passenger and went into hiding for two years after charges were filed against him.
The unidentified driver of the truck on the other hand, allegedly did not noticed the girl and sped away after the incident, police added.
Reyes said Baidal was driving a colorum tricycle when he was arrested.
Baidal is currently held at San Juan City Police Custodial facility and his court of origin will be notified of his arrest. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
