House lauds Yulo's gold, silver medal feat in Gymnastics World Championships

The House of Representatives on Monday, Oct. 25, lauded the gold and silver medal feat of Carlos Yulo in the recent 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan.

House Speaker and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco praised the 2019 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships gold medalist and 30th Southeast Asian Games double gold medalist for his double medal performance in the said event Sunday.

"Huge congratulations to Carlos Edriel Yulo for his stunning performance at the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, winning gold and silver medals in the men’s vault and parallel bars events, respectively. Once again, you have hoisted the Philippine flag high. We are proud of you, Caloy. Mabuhay ang atletang Pinoy!" Velasco said in his House press statement.

Deputy Speaker and Valenzuela City 2nd District Rep. Eric Martinez also praised Yulo's gold medal win in the men's vault event of the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.

"This would be a confidence boost for the 2024 Paris Olympics for Caloy. A bold prediction that Caloy will win multiple Olympic medals in Paris 2024!" Martinez said.

Yulo, who failed to defend his floor exercise title, redeemed himself by winning the vault crown in the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at the Kitakyushu General Gymnasium Sunday.

The 21-year-old Yulo captured the gold medal with a score of 14.916.

He tallied scores of 14.800 on his first vault and 15.033 on his second to claim his second world championship title.

Yulo followed his gold-medal performance by taking home the silver in the men's parallel bars with a score of 15.300. (Melvin Sarangay)
