Billie Eilish penned a letter to her fans and encouraged them to "stay hopeful" amid uncertainty, as she talked about the meaning of her latest single, "my future."

In the letter, Eilish described “my future” as a “personal and special” song to her.
“We wrote this at the very beginning of quarantine…when we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at a hopeful, excited, and crazy amount of self-reflection and self-growth,” she said.
“But recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. I hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves,” she added.
Eilish told fans to be “hopeful and excited” for the future, though it may seem “uncertain and crazy” now.
“I have to keep reminding myself that the future is ours, and I know we want to do everything we can to make it better for everyone in the world, and for the world itself,” she said.
The five-time Grammy winner also urged her fans to educate themselves about “what is going on” around the world and to “keep fighting for what we know is right.
“We need to vote. We need to take care of the earth. We need to fight for all Black lives. We need to just be better,” she said.
“It’s up to us to change things now. Not only for us but for the future generations.. stay safe. stay healthy. wear a mask. drink water. stay hopeful.”
"My future" was released July 31 in the Philippines. The song has debuted at number one on Spotify's “Today’s Top Hits” chart.
