Grammy-nominated artist SOPHIE dies at 34

SOPHIE, the Grammy-nominated artist and producer, has died following an accident in Athens, Greece.

The electro-pop musician, whose full name was Sophie Xeon, died early Saturday morning according to UK record label Transgressive.

"Tragically our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident. True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell," the statement said.

"She will always be here with us. The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time," Transgressive added.

SOPHIE, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, began her debut in 2013 with her single "Nothing More To Say."

Her debut album "Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides" was nominated for a Grammy for best dance/electronic album in 2018.

With the nomination, SOPHIE made history as both one of the first openly transgender artists to be nominated in the dance/electronic music category and one of the three openly transgender women to be ever nominated for a Grammy.

SOPHIE had previously worked with Madonna to co-produce the single "B*tch, I'm Madonna," and collaborated with Charli XCX on the EP "Vroom Vroom."

She had also produced for artists including Vince Staples, Kim Petras, and Fume.
