LEGAZPI CITY – The local governments in three provinces in the Bicol region have suspended classes on December 2 and 3, in all levels, both public and private, including work as early as Friday as part of their preparation for an impending typhoon.
In Albay, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) chair, Governor Al Francis Bichara issued an advisory, suspending classes in all levels, both public and private, including government work on Monday and Tuesday due to Typhoon "Tisoy" (international name Kammuyri).
Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) chief Dr. Cedric Daep told the Manila Bulletin that "assisted evacuation" will be implemented on Monday.
He said that APSEMO will be on its 24-hour operation starting on Sunday.
In Sorsogon, Governor Chiz Escudero has also issued an advisory, suspending classes in all levels, both public and private schools, provincewide due to "Tisoy".
Sorsogon Provincial Information Officer Dong Mendoza said that kitchen utensils, water containers, soup bowls and gas burners were already prepositioned to be used in evacuation centers, including stranded passengers in Matnog port.
Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol director Claudio Yucot said that Catanduanes has also issued advisory suspending classes in all levels both public and private on Monday.
In Camarines Norte, since Thursday, the PDRRMC has already convened as part of its preparations for "Tisoy".
Atty. Don Culvera, provincial information officer of Camarines Norte told the Manila Bulletin that as of Saturday, no suspension of classes is being issued by the PDRRMC but it was already given to municipal mayors to suspend.
Gov Tallado is on top of the situation.
