Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the inauguration and blessing of a new Police Community Precinct (PCP) that will serve at least 39 barangays in the second district of Tondo.
In her speech, the mayor emphasized that the ceremonial opening was a reminder to the Manila Police District (MPD) personnel assigned to the area to continue their dedicated service to the people of Manila.
Accompanied by Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, Manila Police District Director Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Station Commander Lt. Col. Anthony Coyle Olgado, and other city officials, Mayor Lacuna-Pangan expressed her gratitude to Congressman Rolan "CRV" Valeriano for his support to her administration.
The mayor acknowledged Valeriano's selfless dedication, and said that his assistance has enabled the city government to accomplish significant projects without burdening the city with loans.
She also cited the successful rehabilitation of precincts and barangay headquarters as well as the renovation of sports complexes across the city.
“This new precinct is a testament to our continued commitment to peace and order," Mayor Lacuna-Pangan said. "Ito pong si Congressman Valeriano ay masasabi kong isang tunay na kapatid dahil wala akong hiniling sa kanya na hindi niya pinagbigyan (Congressman Valeriano, I can truly say, is a true brother because there is nothing that I have asked from him that he has not granted)."
She added that through Valeriano’s help, the precincts in the second district of Manila and nearly all of the barangay headquarters have been rehabilitated into modern facilities.
The new Tayuman Police Community Precinct, located on Immaculada Street in Tayuman, will serve Barangays 50 to 61, Barangays 152 to 165, Barangays 217 and 218, and Barangays 221 to 227, all in the second district of Tondo.
“The main objective of the Police Community Precinct is the direct engagement of the police with the communities. The presence of the police is more strongly felt by the citizens at any time, providing a sense of security for every Manileño. They have the assurance that they have someone to call in times of need,” Lacuna-Pangan stated.
She also thanked Valeriano for his support in building the new precinct in Tayuman, and emphasized that with this new structure, they expect the police officers assigned to the precinct to be more motivated, inspired, and effective in their service, as well as remain vigilant in their duties.
The mayor also praised the leadership of Gen. Ibay for upholding the motto, “To Serve and Protect… Service, Honor, and Justice,” and for consistently rising to the challenges of maintaining peace and security in Manila.
Valeriano, for his part, shared that he has many more projects lined up for his next term and urged Manilans to never return to the chaotic situation the city faced before the mayor took office.
Gen. Ibay thanked the mayor and Valeriano for their continuing support to the Manila police, and pledged that their efforts would continue to inspire the police force to maintain a peaceful and orderly Manila at all times.
