Live-in partners in Manila urged to join free mass wedding in June

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan urged Manilans who have been living together as partners to register either in church or civil rites under the city's "Kasalang Bayan" in celebration of the 455th Araw ng Maynila in June.
Lacuna-Pangan said those who are interested may go to the Manila Civil Registry Office or simply send a message to the Manila Public Information Office Facebook page to get the information they need and learn about the documents needed.
It was learned from Civil Registry Head Encar Ocampo that the slots are limited and applicants will be entertained on a "first come, first served basis," adding that only those with proper, complete and approved documents will be able to join the mass wedding.
The deadline for the submission of documents is on May 15.
For those who want to avail of civil wedding and are not Catholic, the requirements are: certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR); marriage license (Manila Civil Registry-issued); birth certificate; valid identification card with Manila address (government-issued); afidavit of cohabitation (for those aged 23 or older who have been living together for five years or more and with child) and birth certificate of child.
For church wedding, the applicants are required to present the following: CENOMAR; baptismal certificate (purpose: for Church wedding); confirmation certificate (purpose for church wedding); marriage banns (for those who are not from the Intramuros Parish) and interview or seminar from church.
The civil and Church wedding applicants are also required to present a marriage license (Manila Civil Registry-issued); birth certificate; valid identification card with Manila address (government-issued) and affidavit of cohabitation (for those aged 23 or older who have been living together for five years or more and with a child); birth certificate of child.
Ocampo said that just like all other previous mass weddings under the Lacuna adminisration, the inclusions include marriage license, wedding cord and veil, flower bouquet, arrhae (wedding tokens) and wedding rings.
The reception, venue, church marriage and wedding service will all be taken care of by the mayor's office.
The wedding date is on June 14, 2025 and the Church wedding venue will be at San Vicente de Paul Parish while the details for the civil wedding venue will be announced soon.
