Policemen and civilian employees of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have started receiving their year-end bonus and cash gifts after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the release of almost P8 billion to the police organization.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas said the bonus and cash gifts have already been credited to the ATM payroll account of the PNP with the Landbank of the Philippines.
“The fund was released to our personnel who are qualified to receive this. The payment of bonus for personnel with administrative cases, especially those who are suspended, is deferred,” said Sinas.
It is not immediately clear, however, if President Duterte has given bonus for police commanders for their participation in the drug war.
In 2016, Duterte has approved the release of bonus ranging from P50,000 to P400,000 to police commanders as a form of gratitude for their effort in the campaign against illegal drugs.
