Execration flexes muscle ahead of MPL, crushes Aura for Just ML title

Kiel VJ "Kielvj" Hernandez and Renz "Renzio" Cadua showed up against their former team as Execration swept Aura PH, 3-0, in the grand finals to rule the latest Just ML Cup on Monday night, February 1. 

Kielvj and Renzio, who were part of the back-to-back championship runs of Aura (formerly Sunsparks) in the MPL Philippines, came out with a strong statement through their solid performances for Execration in the title series. 

It was a show of brute force from the boys in black and blue led by veteran Billy "Z4pnu" Alfonso before the MPL PH Season 7 action fires off later this month. 

Exe finished third in the MPL last season, but that didn't save them from losing Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales to Aura, Jaylord "Hate" Gonzales to Onic PH and Jeff "S4gitnu" Subang to Aether Main. 

It was a nip-and-tuck battle between the two local powerhouse teams in Game 1 but Kielvj's Claude and Renzio's Yu Zhong carried Execration to an 18-10 triumph in 13 minutes. 

Kielvj, known as "The King" in the local ML scene, sustained his stellar play with his Lancelot in Game 2 and combined forces with Duane "Kelra" Pillas' Alice to move on the cusp of their first Just ML crown with a 14-5 win in 14 minutes. 

The Jawhead-Eudora connection of Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog and Patrick "E2MAX" Caidic also proved to be pivotal in the second game with their crowd control abilities to lock down Aura hypercarry Mark "Hadess" Lazaro's Ling. 

Once again, Kielvj and Renzio took charge with their Yi Sun-shin and Yu Zhong, respectively, as Execration punctuated its title run with a 17-10 victory in Game 3. 

Aura was able to arrange a championship match against Execration after beating another MPL member Nexplay Solid, 2-1, in the lower bracket finals of the eight-team invitational tilt.
