Belmonte urges residents to report businesses violating health protocols

Quezon City residents can now directly report business establishments that do not observe health protocols against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday (Nov. 11) said the city's official website is ready to accept complaints against erring establishments.

“We have put up a link on our official website where residents can confidentially report specific violations of a particular establishment so we can act on it immediately,” Belmonte said.

Residents only have to visit the website at quezoncity.gov.ph and click on the People’s Corner section, where they can report the details of the violation. Complainants only have to undergo a short registration process, the mayor said.

They can also visit the city’s e-services website at https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph, where existing users can log-in or new users can register to file their complaints. 

Among the things that Belmonte asked her constituents to monitor are establishments exceeding the capacity limitation, lacking social distancing, not implementing the use of face masks and face shields, allows drinking beyond allowable hours and individuals drinking in public places.

“Kailangan natin ang tulong ng mamamayan. Sila ang magsisilbing dagdag na mga mata natin na tututok sa mga pabayang establisimyento na hindi sumusunod sa mga patakaran (We need the help of the people. They will serve as our eyes that will monitor negligent establishments that are not following the rules),” Belmonte said.

“It is crucial, especially now that the city government has permitted the conduct of mall sales, bazaars, tiangges and similar activities at the onset of the holiday season to help revitalize the economy," Belmonte said of the importance of residents’ participation.

"Dapat nating pag-ibayuhin ang pagbabantay dahil inaasahan natin ang paglabas ng mas maraming tao, lalo pa’t nasa panahon na tayo ng kapaskuhan (We should strengthen our monitoring efforts because we expect a lot of people will go out of their houses this Christmas season)," Belmonte noted.
