The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cautioned the public against the consumption of three unregistered cereal products.
The agency identified the unregistered cereal products as General Mills Cocoa Puffs Naturally Flavored Frosted Corn Puffs, General Mills Golden Graham Cereals, and General Mills Cheerios Chocolate Flavored Whole Grain Oat Cereals.
"FDA post-marketing surveillance activities have verified that the above-mentioned food products have not gone through the registration process of the agency and have not been issued the proper authorization," the agency stated in its Advisory No. 2018-328.
The agency said that it cannot guarantee the products' quality and safety.
"The consumption of these products may pose potential health hazards to the consuming public," the FDA said.
"The public is advised not to purchase the aforementioned violative products. Moreover, the public is advised to be vigilant against food products and supplements that might not be duly registered with the FDA," the agency added.
Establishments were warned not to distribute the said products, otherwise, regulatory sanctions will be pursued.
The agency also requested the local government units and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the products are not sold or made available in their localities.
