DAVAO CITY – Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) has postponed all its graduation, recognition, and moving-up ceremonies due to the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Ateneo management said, in a memorandum signed by AdDU President Fr. Joel Tabora, the decided came after careful consideration and consultation with key stakeholders as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.
"This decision also heeds the Davao City Government Guidelines No. 4 which mandates “the postponement of recognition and graduation activities until the public emergency is lifted or withdrawn, ” the memorandum said posted on their official Facebook Page.
It said that each unit, from Grade School to the College of Law, will announce its new schedules of commencement exercises after the public health emergency is over. The University looks forward to celebrating its students’ achievements soon.
"The University understands the disappointment this may cause and we deeply regret the inconvenience. The safety and well-being of all students, families, teachers, and staff are paramount," the statement said.
The University asked for understanding and cooperation, and enjoined everyone to keep safe and healthy to contain the spread of the infection.
