Street sweeper finds dead body while cleaning road
A street sweeper found more than debris at the Payatas Road in Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City, Thursday morning when she discovered a sack at the side of the road.
When she checked it, she found a dead body whose identity has not yet been made by the police.
Police report described the victim as male, medium built and wearing only maong pants, with a height of 5" and approximately 30-35 years old.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Crime Investigation Unit and QCPD Scene of the Crime Operatives investigations disclosed that the victim died due to multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body including in the head resulting to his instantaneous death. (John Aldrin Casinas)
San Juan’s big-time drug pusher busted
San Juan City’s big-time drug pusher was busted Thursday afternoon after seven years of hiding from authorities.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Myrna Lim-Verano of San Juan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 68 against the suspect identified as Luzviminda Llantero, 58, married, a resident of No. 30 Vicencio St., Barangay San Perfecto, San Juan City.
The suspect was charged of violating Section 5 of the RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 filed last April 29, 2011.
According to police report, around 1:30 p.m., San Juan City Police Criminal Investigation Head Police Inspector Alric Macatugcal and SPO4 Helen Baldoza of the Warrant and Subpoena Section held Llantero under arrest in her makeshift eatery in the said barangay while carrying her grandchild.
The suspect was under surveillance for her alleged long-time involvement in drug activities in San Perfecto.
According to San Juan City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Dindo Reyes, Llantero was one of the city’s big-time drug pushers since 2001 after she was arrested in a buy-bust operation in January of the aforementioned year where authorities recovered several sachets of suspected “shabu” on her possession.
Police said, Llantero went into hiding from different places after charges were filed against her in 2011 until she came back home.
Moreover, the court recommended no bail for the charges filed against the suspect. (Hanah Tabios)
QC cops rescue 5-year-old girl
A five-year-old girl was rescued after being allegedly kidnapped by her mother's former live-in partner in Barangay Payatas A, Quezon City on Wednesday, Aug. 22, police reported yesterday.
Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Villanueva, 27, the former live-in partner of the victim's mother. Police said he wanted to use the girl to get his lover back.
Police report said that the victim was fetched from her school by Villanueva who pretended to be an uncle, saying that the girl’s mother was in the hospital.
Police said the suspect told the girl’s mother to reconcile with him and he would set the girl free.
The mother of the girl immediately reported the incident to the Quezon City police, that led to the successful rescue of the minor at the suspect's residence around 10:15 p.m., the police report said.
The suspect will be charged with kidnapping. (John Aldrin Casinas)
Robbery holdup suspect nabbed while hiding behind ‘kangkong,’ water lilies
A robbery holdup suspect was arrested by police while hiding behind “kangkong” and water lilies in Pasig City around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The suspect was identified as Andre Otiz, 37, construction worker, a resident of Barangay San Joaquin, Pasig City.
Police report showed that the suspect held up the victim, Indian national Lachman Singh, 31, businessman, of Ayala Homes, Champaca St., Mandaluyong City at gunpoint while collecting fees for his lending business on board his motorcycle.
The suspect, on boarded his bicycle, allegedly blocked the victim and declared holdup and stole the victim’s cash amounting to P25,000. The suspect hurriedly fled toward Barangay Tipas, Taguig City, police said.
Singh immediately sought assistance from the Police Community Precinct 3 (PCP-3) led by PO3 Ceasar Formentera, who by that time, was subsequently conducting a follow-up operation on the incident.
The police then chased the victim which reached the riverside covered with “kangkong” and water lilies in Barangay Bambang, Pasig City.
A barangay official used a water hose to bend down the water lilies to find the suspect. According to Pasig City Police Senior Insp. Mariel Reyes, the residents, who were watching the scene, also served as lookout in case the suspect escapes again.
The police recovered part of the stolen money amounting to P4,340 and one replica of dessert eagle pistol used to threaten the victim.
A sachet of suspected shabu was also recovered from the suspect’s possession.
The suspect is now facing charges against Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Robbery at the city’s prosecutor’s office. (Hanah Tabios)
Man jailed for trying to bribe QC cops to release brother
A man was put behind bars after trying to bribe police officers for the release of his older brother who was arrested during a drug sting in Quezon City Thursday night.
Members of Quezon City Police District-La Loma Police Station (PS-1) under Superintendent Robert Sales identified the suspect as Jonathan Prodigalidad, 41, a resident of Barangay Sto. Domingo.
Prior to the incident, anti-illegal drug operatives of PS-1 arrested Prodigalidad's older brother, Isagani, 44, was arrested in a buy-bust operation near their house along Don Pepe Street in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 8:30 p.m.
Police said that Isagani was a known drug peddler in his area prompting them to conduct an operation against him.
During the drug sting, police were able to recover six sachets of shabu from the suspect which resulted in his arrest.
Thirty minutes after, the younger Prodigalidad arrived at the police station and confronted the officers who arrested his brother.
During their confrontation, Jonathan offered a P25,000 cash to the policemen in exchange for the release of his brother.
However, the arresting officers did not accept the money and instead arrested him.
The two brothers are now under police custody.
Isagani is facing drug-related charges while Jonathan was charged with violation of Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code or the Corruption of Public Officials. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan)
