The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Vessel Murasame-Class Destroyer, JS IKAZUCHI will arrive Tuesday for a two-day goodwill visit to the Philippines.

Captain Jonathan V. Zata, the Director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, said the Japanese ship will arrive at Pier 9, South Harbor, Manila, at 9 a.m. and will be in the country up to Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Zata said a welcome ceremony and port briefing will be conducted upon arrival of the JMSDF vessel after a customary meeting procedure with the designated PN vessel at the vicinity of Corregidor Island.
Ranking officials from the PN are expected to be on hand to welcome officials and crew of the Japanese destroyer.
The Murasame-class destroyer is a class destroyer, serving with JMSDF. It is the first class of the second-generation general-purpose destroyers of the JMSDF.
The ship, which has a displacement of 4,550 tons standard and 6,200 tons hull load, has a length of 151 meters (495 feet beam).
The ship has a speed of 30 knots (35 mph; 56 km/h).
