DOLE reminds employers P5,000-minimun wage of household helpers to take effect next month

By MB Online An official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded employers in the National Capital Region (NCR) that the P 5,000-minimum pay of household helpers will take effect in January. In an interview over DZMM radio, Sarah Buena Mirasol, DOLE-NCR regional director, said that the P 5,000-minimum wage for household helpers will take effect on January 2, 2020. This would represent an increase of P 1,500 from the previous P 3,500 minimum for household helpers in the NCR. The salary hike was based on an order from the Labor Department. Aside from the salary increase, household helpers are also entitled to benefits like Social Security System (SSS), Pagibig, Philhealth and 13th month pay. Mirasol said that if employers fail to comply, workers can file their complaint through the DOLE hotline number: 1349.
