MAGSAYSAY, Lanao del Norte - The town officials here led by Mayor Azisah Sarangani Omar has turned-over thirty assorted high powered firearms from 24 barangays to the 5th Mechanized Infantry (Kaagapay) battalion through Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Manalo, commanding officer on Wednesday.
The loose firearms surrendered were four (4) 5.56mm M16 rifle, eight (8) caliber 30 garand springfield rifles, one (1) 7.62mm M14 rifle, three (3) carbine caliber. 30 M1 rifles, one (1) G5k Luger 9mm, one (1) KJ9 Luger 9mm, one (1) Ingram 9mm, eight (8) twelve gauge shotgun and three (3) caliber. 22 rifles.
Philippine Army's 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Thomas R. Sedano presided over the turn-over of assorted loose firearms held at its evacuation center with the theme: "Pagkakaisa tungo sa tunay na diwa ng kapayapaan at kaunlaran".
Barangay officials from twenty-four barangays of Magsaysay town including its oldest member Macangon Bebet, 102 years old of barangay Babasalon fully support the government's advocacy in the surrender of loose firearms.
