Davao City – Top officials of this city were set to arrive in Manila yesterday to sign sisterhood agreements.
Davao City will be renewing its partnerships with Quezon City and San Juan, while Marikina City will be signing a partnership with the city for the first time.
Vice Mayor Bernard E. Al-ag will be signing the agreements, representing Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who could not make the trip because she had to take care of her sick child.
Al-Ag was accompanied by the Davao City Council, which already held a special session on Monday to make up for the Tuesday trip to Manila.
The Davao City contingent was to meet with San Juan officials yesterday, and was said to also have an audience with Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
Al-Ag and the councilors will proceed to Quezon City and Marikina today to sign sisterhood deals with local officials.
Davao City has become a template for some local governments which want to establish centralized monitoring systems such as the ones established by the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), and the implementation of a Central 911 system, the first in the Philippines.
The 911 system was recently implemented on a nationwide scale, with former Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte announcing that all emergency numbers in the Philippines adopt the 911 number.
