Holy Week in the Philippines sees even show business grind to a halt. Like most everyone else, many of the stars go on vacation not just for fun but to do a reality check on their lives.
Erich Gonzales
In the case of Erich Gonzales, her strong faith in God prompts her to read the bible more often than usual this time of the year.
“My relationship with God is really good. I talk to Him every day," she told Bulletin Entertainment. 'I don’t think kailangan pang mag-Holy Week para lang maalala na’tin mag-repent or mag-isip sa mga ginagawa natin sa buhay."
Her favorite verses are in the book of Jeremiah and Psalms. Her life verse is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
“Sa mundo na ito, importante na may pinagbabasehan ka kasi yan ang magiging sandata mo towards life. I believe, you just have to read the bible, follow what God says, and everything will go smoothly."
With summer here Erich plans to go on a beach escapade with her family.
“Maldives siguro? But I will be working definitely kasi we will be in Paris for the TFC event din with Enchong (Dee),” she said when asked where at the time of interview.
Late last year, Erich caught the attention of many netizens after sharing several sexy calendar photos as well as those from her recent in trip in Siargao. She was photographed in two-piece bikini that showed her svelte shape, particulatly her defined abs.
Asked about her waistline, she declared “24 inches.” Wow.
'Weet-weet'
We caught up with Erich at the recent press launch of MySlim, which tapped her as their newest celebrity ambassador.
For the actress, being sexy is not just about showing skin. It’s about being healthy while feeling confident and good inside.
She mentioned that one common misconception about dieting is starving oneself to death.
“Ako I actually eat everything but of course, may limitation,” she said. “What you feed your body is really important so you have to eat healthy talaga like vegetables and fruits.”
Erich advises everyone to exercise once in a while.
“Konting abs workout, buhat buhat ng konti. As much as possible kasi dapat balanse,” she noted.
If anything, Erich said one should slim down for the right reasons.
“You have to do it for yourself not and not for anyone else. Hindi ‘yung magda-diet ka lang para masabing sexy ka. Later on, papasalamatan mo din ‘yung ginawa mo kasi like what I said, malaki ang benefit na makukuha natin if we stay fit and healthy.”
Consistent
Erich set the record straight: She is single at the moment.
However, the Kapamilya actress confirmed she has a non-showbiz suitor and that they went to Japan together last month. She refused to divulge further details including the name of the guy, but she let on that he is the businessman brother of Claudia Barretto’s boyfriend, Basti Lorenzo.
Hawk-eyed fans identified the suitor as Mateo Lorenzo.

“Una sa lahat wala naman po tayong tinatago. Single ako, he is single also. Lumalabas naman kami together and gumagawa naman talaga siya ng paraan to see me, ‘yung effort niya makikita naman ng mga tao so bakit ako magmamaganda pa ‘di ba?” she said, smiling.
According to her, they are still in the getting-to-know-each-other stage, simply enjoying each other's company.
Erich describesld his suitor as “too good to be true,” “consistent” and “persistent.”
“In fairness naman sa kanya, hindi lang siya puro salita kung hindi may gawa,” she noted. “He’s very nice. Actually parang hindi ka nga maniniwala nu’ng una na may ganoong tao, nag-e-exist pala siya.”
So what’s stopping her from dropping the bomb? “Yes.”
“Priorities,” she disclosed. “I told him na committed ako with my show, with my work. I don’t want to be unfair naman sa taong mamahalin ko in the future because kailangan nandiyan ako sa mga panahon need niya ako and ngayon talaga, work ang una sa listahan ko.”
Hopefully, her suitor is willing to wait.
“When the time comes na I’m ready to commit na, I think it’s God’s will.”
Asked what lessons she has learned from her failed relationships, Erich said, “Una sa lahat you have really to have your heart in everything kasi once na hinayaan mo ang puso na mag-open, magtuloy-tuloy na yan eh.”
“It’s very important din na may boundaries ka sa sarili mo na parang ‘Okay, you love the person.’ Pero ‘wag mong kalimutang mahalin din ang sarili mo. Balanse lang dapat ang heart and mind.”
More work
Erich is on ABS-CBN’s afternoon series “The Blood Sisters,” wherein she plays three characters namely Agatha, Erika and Carrie.

“Hindi rin po ako makapaniwala na kinakaya ko ‘yung tatlong roles,” she enthused. “Sobrang emotionally draining siya at sobrang nakakapagod.”
The series is doing good ratings-wise and Erich is not hogging all the glory.
“It’s really hard work for everybody, sobrang team effort siya. I’m grateful sa support ng mga tao,” she said.
Erich is doing a movie with the working title “We Will Not Die Tonight,” co-starring Max Eigenmann, Sarah Abad, Paolo Paraiso, Thou Reyes, Jeffrey Tam, and Alex Medina. It is directed by Richard Somes and produced by Erich herself, through her latest venture, EG Productions.
“’Yung film is like a survival movie. It’s an action, suspense, thriller,” she said. (With report from Bhenj Agustin)
