DAVAO CITY – Former Parang, Maguindanao Mayor Talib Basa Abo Sr. and his brother Basa “Bobby” Abo were killed in separate drug operations conducted by authorities at 12:40 a.m. on Friday in Cotabato City while the former mayor’s daughter was arrested for her involvement in drugs.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 spokesperson Aldrin Gonzales said the former mayor and his brother were killed when they engaged police authorities who were serving the search warrants in a gunfight at their respective residences.
Police recovered different calibers of short and long firearms and illegal drugs from the residence of the former mayor in Barangay Rosary Heights and also from his brother’s house in Mother Bagua in Cotabato City including a hand grenade.
He said authorities also served separate search warrants against the two daughters of the former mayor identified as Amy Macaumbang “Baby Love” Abo and Bai Amelia Macaumbang Abo.
Police arrested Amy Macaumbang after they recovered illegal drugs and pistol from her residence, also in Barangay Rosary Heights. Police are preparing appropriate charges against Macaumbang. Her sister, Bai Amelia Macaumbang, was released eventually for lack of evidence.
