Czech Republic visa application center opens in Cebu City

By Roy Mabasa Travelers to the Czech Republic coming from the Visayas region may need not go to Manila to apply for a visa to visit that picturesque central European country.

(Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN) The Czech Embassy in the Philippines on Tuesday opened its visa application center right in the heart of Cebu City to provide efficiency and service availability to those who have difficulty applying for a visa in Manila. Czech Republic Ambassador Jaroslav Olša, Jr. said the newly-launched visa center will be able to accommodate the growing demand for visas to different central European countries, notably those going to the Czech Republic, among tourists from the Philippines. The Cebu VFS center is centrally located at Keppel Center, Samar Loop corner Cardinal Rosales Avenue in Cebu City. “The launch of the Czech Republic Visa Application Centre in Cebu City reflects the country's genuine commitment in continuing to bolster people-to-people network between our two friendly nations through tourism, business, and culture. As a result of this policy, the Czech Republic will continue to emerge as one of the top European destinations for Philippine tourists,” Olša said. Coinciding with the opening of its new visa facility, the Czech Embassy, thru its state-run also CzechTourism conducted promotional campaigns in both Cebu and the province of Bohol, highlighting tourism destinations of the Czech Republic. One of the most famous destinations for many Filipino Catholic devotees is the Our Lady of Victory Church in the capital city of Prague where the Infant Jesus of Prague or Child of Prague, a 16th-century Roman Catholic wax-coated wooden statue of child Jesus holding a globus cruciger(orb and cross), is shrined.
