Dole PH wants to erect statue to honor Mindanao people

Ocampo Davao City – Multi-national company Dole Philippines has sought the approval of the city government here to erect a 25-foot statue to honor the Mindanao tri-people and the pioneering banana industry in the island group. In a letter to the city council, Dole Philippines asked the city government for permission to erect a monument to be built by Mindanawon sculptor Kublai Millan. The title of the sculpture is "Golden Harvest," a banana tri-people monument to be located at the Davao International Airport. The 25-foot concrete sculpture in gold finish represents Mindanao’s tri-people (Christian, Moro and Lumad) holding various harvest atop a giant banana finger. The sculpture is also dedicated to President Rodrigo Duterte, the first President from Mindanao. The company said it was eyeing the turnover of the sculpture during the Kadayawan Festival this August. "It will be a momentous event as Dole-Stanfilco celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Dole-Stanfilco, a Japanese multinational company based in Davao City is the pioneer and leader in the Philippine banana export industry.
