By Czarina Nicole Ong Ki The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will not be standing by the sidelines as the government begins operating its Mega Swabbing Centers in different parts of the metro. In fact, a total of 102 DAR employees will be serving as frontliners in the swabbing centers in order to help flatten the curve of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. DAR OIC-director for administrative service Primo C. Lara said that their personnel will serve as non-medical support staff, either as encoders or barcoders, in the four Mega Swabbing Centers. This deployment came after executive secretary Salvador Medialdea made a request to different cabinet members to tap at least 100 personnel from each agency to assist as encoders and barcoders in the Mega Swabbing Centers established by the National Task Force Against COVID-19. "The assigned personnel are expected to be given compensation, training, transportation to and from the mega swabbing centers, and are entitled to COVID-19 hazard pay or special risk allowance under Administrative Order Nos. 26 and 28, Series of 2020," said Lara. Lara is extremely grateful to their employees who have committed to serve and assist the mass testing efforts of the government. While working at the swabbing centers, they will be housed at the nearest hotel and will be contacted and ferried from their respective hotels or residences to the designated meeting area. They will likewise be provided with appropriate training, food, laundry service, and personal protective equipment (PPEs). The centers are located in Philippine Sports Stadium inside the Philippine Arena in Bulacan (North), the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City (South) Enderun Colleges in Taguig City (East), and the Palacio de Maynila Tent in Roxas Boulevard (West). Close to 800 government workers have already volunteered to assist in the mega swabbing centers built by the government and its private sector-partners in order to achieve its goal of conducting 30,000 tests per day.
