World-Class Local

By Jake Galvez @jakegalvez on Instagram Love local products! It’s no surprise that we like patronizing brands from foreign countries.  Admit it, you own more products made elsewhere than those made in the Philippines. There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the brands that you trust but there are so much more undiscovered gems that should be in your wardrobe. We should be proud that we can make world-class products that could rival any foreign brands out there. It doesn’t matter whether it’s from a huge corporation or a small-to-medium enterprise, as long as it delivers the quality that we expect with the hard-earned money we used to purchase these goods. If you are on the lookout for great footwear that's proudly Filipino like @jhay_ramos on Instagram, then look no further. He asks: “Hello Jake! I’m looking for stylish footwear that I can wear for my upcoming beach trip with friends. Help! I know everyone will be wearing the usual Brazilian-made flip-flops, so I’m hoping to get something unique and hopefully locally made. I love supporting local goods. Thanks Jake!” Nobody wants to have a case of “Who wore it better?” And footwear is no exception when it comes to this. If you want to stand out among the crowd when you hit your summer destination then this could be the best footwear that you can own. The best part is: it’s local. Ramir, a footwear brand I recently discovered online, is made of genuine leather, completely made by hand from high quality materials, and is gender neutral. When it comes to shoemaking, Marikina is known to be the “shoe capital of the Philippines.” Ramir began in a small factory in Sto. Niño, Marikina way back in 1970. Though their perseverance and craftsmanship, they were able to introduce quality products in the market. Ramir has proven to withstand the test of time despite competition and market deflation; it continues to produce durable footwear for the masses. Fast forward to today, younger generations of shoemakers introduced bespoke footwear that is handmade with superb quality. This fresh line of handmade leather sandals is simple, sleek, and relevant. Ramir features several pairs of handmade sandals, guaranteed to fit any and every personality. The Riley is the fringe leather sandal with adjustable ankle strap and thick rubber soles. Available in six colors, the Andy is a double-strap sandal with adjustable ankle strap, gun metal buckles, and Bensole. Meanwhile, the Franky features multi-straps, as well as gun metal buckles and Bensole, and is likewise available in six colors. The Finley is also a multi-strap sandal with buckles and adjustable ankle strap. The Stormy is a tri-strap leather sandal with adjustable ankle strap, while the Corey features a cross-strap with and adjustable ankle strap. If you’re the type who’s into slides, Ramir offers you the Dony, the Bailey, the Timy, the Harley, and the Jappy to choose from! The Ramir premium quality leather sandals are priced between P1,250 to P2,650.   To order, email [email protected], like ramir.ph on Facebook, follow @ramir.ph on Instagram   Send your beauty or lifestyle questions to @jakegalvez via Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #AskJakeG
