ILOILO CITY—Since the February 10 reopening of the country to fully vaccinated foreign travelers, world-famous Boracay Island has had only 165 foreign visitors since then.

Based on the data released by the Tourism Office of Malay town in Aklan province, the 165 foreign tourists were part of the 47,900 arrivals between February 1 to 20.  The rest were domestic tourists.

The number of foreign arrivals was way below the pre-pandemic count when thousands of foreigners came to the country’s most famous destination per week.

Of the foreign tourist arrivals, most were from the United States with 60.

There were 15 visitors each from Germany and the United Kingdom.

There were also visitors from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The pandemic foreign arrivals also noted a significant decrease of tourists from China and South Korea, which were previously Boracay’s two top tourist foreign visitors.
