Valenzuela banked on a solid fourth quarter to edge Marikina, 65-63, in the U17 Division of the Metro League at the Metro Asia Court in Pasig on Saturday.
The Junior Workhorse outscored the Junior Shoelanders, 23-13, in the final frame but still needed a game-saving block from Luiz Tapenio to ice the game.

James Maliwat made 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal off the bench for Valenzuela, which tied its victim at 1-1.
Tapenio added 13 points, 20 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four blocks.
Jhomel Ancheta made 15 points and five boards for Marikina.
