Warning issued on donations scam for fire ravaged Pandacan church

The Sto. Nino de Pandacan Parish (SNPP) in Manila has warned the public against unscrupulous individuals using the fire that ravaged the parish last July 10 to solicit money from people.

"It has come to our attention that there are certain individuals who pretend to be the official representative of the parish and taking advantage of the recent fire incident to solicit for their own self-serving interest," SNPP said in their Facebook page Monday, July 20, asking the public to contact the parish office to verify any information or if they know of any irregularities relating to this.

The parish also asked the faithful to deposit directly to the parish's bank account and request for an Official Receipt duly issued by SNPP Finance Council when making donations.

SNPP said the faithful may also visit the church's parish office to personally hand over their assistance.

The fire that engulfed the Sto. Niño Parish Church, which is located in Pandacan, Manila also damaged the historical Sto. Niño image housed therein.

The religious icon is an object of devotion to many Catholics, especially in the old district of Pandacan.
