Joel Doria, director of Cebu City Police Office, identified the victim as PO3 Ben Serohijos, 44, of Dauis, Bohol. Initial investigation showed that Serohijos was walking along Zodiac Drive in Barangay Punta Princesa around 1:20 a.m. when the gunman attacked him. Witnesses told police that they heard several gunshots but they couldn't identify the gunman as he was wearing a face mask. A police report reaching Doria said Serohijos sustained three gunshot wounds in the head and body. The report said a sachet with suspected shabu and assorted IDs were found in the wallet of Serohijos. It was learned that Serohijos went AWOL after his supposed reassignment to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) last year. He was previously assigned at the Loay Police Station in Bohol. It was not immediately clear why Serohijos was in Cebu City after he went AWOL. Three empty shells from a caliber 45 pistol were found by investigators at the crime scene, the report said. Police have already launched a follow up investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and arrest the assailant.
