SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Provincial Director P/Col. Jean Salvador-Fajardo
announce a total lockdown to be implemented within the province starting Friday, March 27.
This means that police force will be enforcing stricter measures to implement the guidelines set forth by the enhanced community quarantine.
According to Fajardo, they hope to control 80 percent of travel within Pampanga with 900 policemen deployed in all barangay control points, and all entry/exit points of the province.
Fajardo also said they would be requesting for additional 100 personnel from the Regional Police Office.
“We are determined to implement the lockdown to restrict movement. It is the best way to mitigate the spread of the virus,” Fajardo said during a digital press conference.
Fajardo said Governor Dennis Pineda was supporting the police in its proposal to impose a total lockdown in the province, which would ensure that residents would stay at home 24/7, with travel outside their abodes limited to essential chores.
“We will implement lockdown but exemption will be exemption,” Fajardo added.
To be exempted from the lockdown would be those who would be rendering basic services such as medical and security service, emergency responders, and funeral parlors, and daily essentials such as those working at banks, groceries, pharmacies, and food establishments.
Fajardo also sought an alternative sanction to rising number of violators in lieu of
detaining them on detention facilities of police station.
Disobeying curfew hours will now be fined by a half day lecture or an overnight stay at
barangay hall , exercise and community service .
