Brace for heavy traffic, Baguio tourists told

By MB Online The Baguio City local government issued a warning to would-be tourists to the summer capital of the Philippines to brace themselves for heavy traffic flow because of the influx of visitors. Because of this influx of visitors, many of the famous tourist destinations’ major thoroughfares are now clogged with vehicles causing gridlocks and traffic jams in certain parts of the city. "We appeal for your patience and understanding to whatever inconvenience that will crop up due to the influx of tourists to our city. May we enjoy the yuletide and New year celebrations," the city’s statement read. The influx of tourists, although good for the city’s economy, unfortunately also causes an increase in the volume of trash. Because of this, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong ordered the police to launch an anti-littering drive after some netizens reported over social media supposed incidents of improper trash disposal. The police have also been tasked by the local government to help in traffic management.
