The Senate leadership has bared its committee chairmanships for the 19th Congress, with many of the lawmakers retaining their posts from the past congress.
Based on partial list released by the Office of Senate Majority Floor Leader Joel Villanueva, Senators Sonny Angara, Bato Dela Rosa, Bong Go, Risa Hontiveros, Lito Lapid, Grace Poe, Cynthia Villar and Pia Cayetano will remain chairpersons of the committees they handled during the 18th Congress.
These are:
• Angara for Committee on Finance
• Dela Rosa for Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs
• Go for Committee on Health
• Hontiveros for Committee on Women
• Lapid for Committee on Games and Amusement
• Poe for Committee on Public Services
• Villar for Committee on Agriculture and Food
• Cayetano for Committee on Sustainable Development Goals
On the other hand, Senators Nancy Binay, Imee Marcos, Win Gatchalian, Bong Revilla, and Francis Tolentino will take over new committees. These are as follows:
• Binay for Committee on Accounts
• Gatchalian for Committee on Ways and Means
• Marcos for Foreign Relations and Social Justice
• Revilla for ​Committee on Public Works
• Tolentino for the Blue Ribbon Committee
Previously, the accounts committee was led by former Sen. Ping Lacson; ways and means by Sen. Pia Cayetano; foreign relations by Sen. Koko Pimentel; and blue ribbon by former Sen. Richard Gordon.
Meanwhile, these neophyte and comebacking senators will head the following:
• JV Ejercito for Committee on Local Government
• Jinggoy Estrada for Committee on National Defense
• Robin Padilla for Committee on Constitutional Amendments
• Chiz Escudero for Committee on Higher Education
• Raffy Tulfo for Committee on Energy
• Mark Villar for Committee on Trade, and
• Alan Peter Cayetano for Committee on Government Corporation
