PH beauty wins Miss International 2018

Miss Philippines Athisa Manalo was crowned Miss International 2018 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, November 9. Miss Philippines Athisa Manalo Miss Philippines Athisa Manalo Manalo is the seventh Filipina to win the Miss International crown. The 21-year-old bested 76 beauties from other countries in this year’s pageant. The 2017 winner, Indonesia's Kevin Lilliana, passed the crown to the Filipina beauty queen. Runners-up were Miss South Africa Reabetswe Sechoaro (2nd), Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin (3rd), Miss Colombia Anabella Castro (4th) Miss Japan Hinano Sugimoto Miss Colombia Anabella Castro Miss Ecuador Michelle Huet Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin Miss South Africa Reabetswe Sechoaro Miss Spain Susana Sanchez Hernandez Miss Venezuela Mariem Claret Velazco Garcia Other winners were:
  • Miss International Africa - Miss South Africa Reabetswe Sechoaro
  • Miss International America - Miss Argentina Rocio Pérez Suarez
  • Miss International Asia - Miss Singapore Eileen Feng
  • Miss International Europe - Miss Netherlands Zoë Amber Niewold

In her speech, Manalo said that as Miss International, she will continue being "the voice of the youth, in showing that nothing is impossible with hard work and determination." "Miss International is a celebration of youth and empowerment. I've always believed that age is not a barrier to reach our dreams or to have an impact on others," Manalo said.   The six previous Miss International winners from the Philippines were: Kylie Verzosa in 2016, Bea Santiago in 2013, Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005, Mimilanie Marquez in 1979, Aurora Pijuan in 1970 and Gemma Cruz-Araneta in 1964.
